Dental sedation is aimed at reducing any anxiety you may be experiencing about your dental treatment. You will be given a relaxing agent either by tablet, or by IV injection. Your dentist will discuss your concerns with you and will make a recommendation as to which method of sedation is best for you.
Sedation is not a replacement for anaesthetic, so a local anaesthesia will still be administered to prevent any pain during the procedure.
At Broadway Dental Centre, we provide a stress-free and relaxing environment to give our patients the best possible experience. Some people have anxiety about seeing the dentist, and we strive to make it a positive experience every time.
Invisalign gives you a modern approach to traditional teeth straightening by using a custom set of aligners tailored to your mouth. A comfortable, smooth and virtually invisible plastic makes up these aligner trays, and you simply slip them over your teeth. They will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place based on Dr Bob Yang’s detailed plans. There are no metal brackets or wires to tighten. Instead, you simply pop a new set of alignment trays in every two weeks until you complete your treatment and get the confident and straight smile you dreamed of. Best of all, most people will not even know you are wearing them!

What is a partial denture?
A partial denture is a removable appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. The most common types of removable partial dentures (RPD) include a metal RPD (metal framework with pink acrylic to simulate gums and tooth-coloured acrylic to simulate teeth), an acrylic RPD or a Valplast (flexible resin/nylon thermoplastic) RPD.
What is a full denture?
A full or complete denture is a removable appliance used to replace all the missing teeth in one jaw. The base is made out of pink acrylic and the teeth attached to the base are made out of tooth-coloured acrylic.
A full denture can also be supported or retained by implants. An implant-supported or implant-retained denture improves the retention, stability and support of the denture. During your consultation appointment, one of our dentists will be happy to discuss these options in more detail with you.
Dental implant therapy is becoming an increasingly popular option for replacing missing teeth. A dental implant-crown provides the closest resemblance in form and function to a natural tooth. It involves surgical placement of a titanium post within the jawbone. Once the implant has fully integrated with the surrounding bone, a crown is fitted onto the implant.
Dental implant therapy is not a suitable option for everyone. During your consultation appointment, one of our dentists will help determine if you are a suitable candidate for this procedure.
What is a crown?
A crown is essentially a cap which sits over your tooth to protect it. A crown is cemented onto a tooth and helps to restore its function and increase its fracture resistance. Crowns are often advised for teeth with previous root canal treatment to reduce the risk of fracture. They are also a great option for restoring heavily filled teeth, poorly formed teeth, or discoloured teeth.
What is a bridge?
A bridge is a restoration used to replace a missing tooth. It consists of 2 or more crowns which are fused together to replace a gap and is bonded directly to 1 or more teeth.
What are crowns and bridges made of?
Numerous materials and techniques can be used to construct crowns and bridges. Crowns and bridges are usually made of porcelain, zirconia, gold, or a combination of metal and porcelain. Your dentist will assess your needs and make recommendations best suited to you.
Veneers consist of thin composite or porcelain shells that are custom sculpted or made and bonded to the front part of your tooth/teeth. Veneers can be used to treat dental conditions like discolouration, crooked and chipped teeth or to fill in spaces between teeth.

Broadway Dental Centre provides two options for brightening your smile.
Zoom Whitening – In-Office Whitening Appointment
We can lighten stained or discoloured teeth up to six shades with our one-hour tooth whitening service. We will apply gel that contains hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient to the surface of your teeth. This breaks down and enters the enamel layer to brighten the shade of your teeth without altering the underlying fundamental structure.
Take-Home Whitening Kit
Allow us to provide you with a customised whitening kit so you can whiten your teeth at home in your own time. Our experienced team will take accurate impressions of your teeth and give you tailored trays and whitening gel. You apply the gel using the trays over several weeks to whiten your teeth.

If you require a filling, we will assess the affected tooth and remove any decay. Next, we will thoroughly clean the tooth and prepare it for the new filling. We will then accurately place the composite filling before shaping and polishing it to restore your tooth to its full functionality.
There are several reasons why you could need a tooth-coloured filling, including:
- Broken or cracked teeth
- Chipped teeth
- Closing the gap between two teeth
- Decayed teeth
- Worn teeth

Tooth impaction is the main complication; this is when your tooth (or teeth) grow in an unfavourable position that causes pain or resorption of neighbouring teeth. The second issue is your wisdom teeth erupting at different rates or only partially erupting. This leaves a pocket of exposed gum tissue that is vulnerable to gum disease and painful infections.
Removing the infected or impacted wisdom teeth is the most effective treatment option. This is a common procedure which can usually be performed at our practice in a single session with local anaesthetics. For anxious patients or more complicated procedures, treatment can be done under IV sedation with an oral surgeon or under general anaesthetic in a hospital setting.
Your recovery generally involves a few days of rest, a soft diet and avoidance of alcohol/smoking. You may experience minor swelling and bleeding, but this should subside relatively quickly.

If left untreated, gingivitis can lead to a more serious condition called periodontitis. With periodontal disease/periodontitis, you may lose teeth due to loss of supporting bone structure.
Seeing a hygienist regularly will help keep your teeth healthy and prevent these oral diseases from occurring. Having unhealthy gums and teeth can lead to other health issues, especially for those who have existing problems like diabetes, osteoporosis and respiratory illnesses.
